dual carb setup

Hi guys I have a solt dual carb set up . I would like to know what I need to finish this set up for my mac 7
on my dart kart I have the other chrome carb on the single intake

Kyle,

It doesn't look like that manifold has any reed cages. Post some pictures showing the under side that faces the engine so we can see what it looks like.
Can tell you more after seeing the pics.

Just curious, what gears are you running. The bottom sprocket looks huge.

ok here is a pic. of the bottom . and im running a 76 gear what size grear do u guys run at Fremont Oh. and where do i get grears for this thing

Say, Kyle. Is this the only part you have? You are missing the reed cage with reeds, as well as the manifold itself which mounts on the engine. You may get lucky and find one if you advertise on this forum. A good single carb manifold such as a Hovey or Van Tech are much easier to tune! Don't use an early Reed brand, or early Go Power or Palmini, as these do not feed the third port properly as Mac intended. The later 2-piece Go Power is fine. If you're running a stock-ported Mac 7, a 10 tooth clutch with the 76 tooth bottom will be pretty close. If you're real light, a 74 tooth might be faster and easier on the engine. This is for Fremont. You can get sprockets from Comet Kart Sales, APS, Franklin Motorsports and many many more. Find some of these on the resources page of REAR. Try to buy Horstman, RLV or Williams sprockets. The Premier sprockets are not always "round". Sometimes it's hard to get Horstman. I've had good luck with all three above brands. TJ

I have one rear sprocket that has 76 Hands Eng. on it will that be ok and im about 225 to 230

Fine for Fremont with a 10 tooth clutch. You'll probably need other bottom sprockets for longer, shorter, tighter or oval tracks. If you're new to McCullochs, PLEASE for your own peace and enjoyment use a single carburetor. Tuning a dual carb and setting up a proper linkage can drive ya nuts. :cry: TJ

I think it's wise. I've got over 50 years with Macs, but I'm still putting singles on my dual Mc7's on the Van Tech for simplicity. I will use dual flatbacks on my 101/Mc20 clone, but I'm used to them. :roll: TJ
