Mc91B1 - Painted Block??? Chainsaw Block???

Post by Scott Kneisel » Wed Nov 24, 2010 5:23 pm

I have a new one..........
A real nice 91B1 block just came thru my shop and I cleaned it up today. When I removed the stuffer nuts and clips, there was yellow paint in there. Then I started looking closer at the block and see telltale yellow in the nooks and crannies. Apparently It had been stripped by media blast but not all the paint was removed. The left over paint definitely looks and is tough like original Mac yellow. It is definitely a 91B1 block but there was never a tag riveted to the block.

Does anyone know if the 91B1 block was ever used on another McCulloch product??
McBob...Any ideas? Anybody, any ideas? This is new to me.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone,
Scott

Never seen one painted from the factory but have seen them painted by vintage karters to look like an older model.

Kart engines are just that all the saw engines have fixed heads

hi Scott,
could've been in a saw at some point.
i personally found a mc45 in a chain saw and bill anderson has a mc9 mounted in a chainsaw.
both are painted yellow and both looked original and undisturbed.
my best guess is that somebody at mcculloch either got rid of leftovers or accidently mounted a kart block into a saw.
as i understand it these motors were mostly bench built so anything is possible i guess.
