Are you sure the pulse hole between the manifold and the carb is not being blocked by the base gasket? It's real easy to put it on backwards and inadvertly block the pulse hole.

Some carbs can't pull all of the air in the line and get the fuel to the carb. On our 4 cycle engines with a remote fuel tank sitting on the floor pan and a fuel pump half way between the tank and the carb it has a hard time priming the pump. We put a piece of fuel line over the vent on the fuel tank and gently blow air into the fuel tank. This pressurizes the fuel tank and forces the fuel up the line to the carb. It works best if you are cranking the engine at the same time but will also work without cranking but takes longer. We have to drain our tanks between races because of a spec fuel check and replace with fresh fuel every race. This may or may not help but is a solution we use.

hey guys well i figured out i had one problem which was the fuel second problem i also had was no spark so i took it to a friend of mines friend who work on alot of old stuff that he restores. lucky i have 2 pp 47s we took one and played with it and got some spark from the ignition and put that on the motor i was having trouble with sure enough when we got it on very dim spark go figure just out of curiosity would any one have any specs on the pp-47s ignition points set trouble shooting etc. once i figure that out then ill be on to the next problem the fuel.
question i have is on the reed plate assembly should the reeds be bent a little or should they lay flat? 2 of the assemblys i have the reeds are bent one of them i have they lay flat how are they supposed to be?
also if anyone may have a ignition setup that they are willing to part with if u could contact me. and if anyone knows where i can find more detail infor on the 47 i would greatly appreciate it

Chris, First off, yes the reeds should lie flat. You have a "reed valve" engine, and the reeds need to form a seal when the piston is traveling down. I'm not sure if the if the reeds can be flipped over on a PP-47, but that was the solution on some engines.
I do have a Question for you. Are really commited to a Power Products 47? I started racing in 1962, and never saw one. That does not mean much, since I was a guy who only went to a few tracks. I do know that they show up on Ebay, but it may in the long run, be less expensive, and a little more fun to consider a different engine. Parts are fairly easy to find for the more popular engines (Mac, West Bend, and AH 58's) as is maintenance, and repair info. It's not much fun to have a constant battle to find parts,and try to keep an engine running when you may not be able to attain the necessary pieces, or help you need.
Not all of us want to go as fast as possible, but we would like to keep the fun to sweat ratio favoring fun.
These are just my thoughts, everybody has thier own goals and should pursue them accordingly.

I just did a Google search for Power Products AH 47, there were 278.000 replies. You should be able to find some information there.

If the reeds are not flat they will not seal. If they don't seal the carburetor does not get a strong pulse to pump fuel.
If it is a AH47 it's only a 2-2 1/4 hp engine.
If it is a AH47 it's only a 2-2 1/4 hp engine.

How did you check the reeds without pulling the carb?

PP-47's were offered on very early karts, but they don't make much horsepower. If you're building them for show, that really doesn't matter. Regarding your weak spark..........those old flywheel magnets can weaken over time. They can be re-energized.
