Post by Dominic Salvato » Sat May 23, 2009 10:16 pm

This guy has listed this THING every week on e-bay vintage karts for the past two months. I'll buy it if anyone in Suffield, Ct. will pick it up and burn it.

It's the real first Caretta! No matter what you did you couldn't keep it off the curb.

Hi guys. With all that room next to the seat, I thought this might have been a factory prototype for the first SIDEWINDER???? , Phil.

It's to bad kids now would look down at it and think it's a piece of homemade junk. Some kid was proud of it and probably spent many hours dragging back up a hill for a to short of a ride back down. Maybe his father helped him put it togehter out of scrap and it's a fond memory.
Maybe a few kids scrounged what they could find and it was a group project.......
Scraped elbo's, torn knees on their jeans.....bet they didn't even wear a helmet when they rode it!

grew up in akron ohio, home of the all american soap box derby. mine was a used up soap box derby with a engine from a 'reel' lawnmower. since the derby had limited steering, we would disconnect, connect a rope to the 'front axle' to hold on and steer with our feet.. the engine throttle was a string.. my street atwood drive did have some nice hills with long flat road till next hill. a long walk back indeed but my street also had some nasty deep ditches. lasted 2days when i came home 'kinda' beat up...so much for hiding my soap box derby from my mother
