Well you might not trust Ebay or Paypal but i don't have a choice as i bid from Australia and using Western Union could be even worse means i have to register the letter with a returnable reciept and still hope the item i have bought gets sent .... then i wait a week or two to see if the tracking number offered with the item shows it as being at my depot in California and then i have too wait another 10-12 weeks before i see the item in the flesh so to speak ( only to find the crank was repaired and dummyed up and covered by the chain sprocket it came apart as soon as i tried to undo the pto nut.)
$450-00 later and the freight costs later plus i only live over 7000 miles from you fellas what can i do .................. nothing .............. wrote to the seller telling him what i found with the crank ............... again no responce ............ now thats being shafted.
I do a heck of a lot of dealing with you fellas in the states and so far this is really the only time i have been shafted................ 99.9% of you fellas are honest and above board and i take my hat off to you's.

Mc Screwed Over Bob

Please post the ebay guys info so no one else bids on his items. We went thru this when Jeff Campbell got shafted from a guy in PA on a engine and we have all heard about the Havalin/ McCulloch Racing deal from years past. Maybe if it's legit we will start a list of "BE VERY CAREFUL" so people don't get screwed. Might not be able to get you any money back but you can be sure very few bid on his items so he gets less money in the end.

As I think about it more and more please send me a detailed account of what happened, dates, money involved, bad part description, if you think it was an honest mistake or deliberate fraud and anything else you want to add and I will make a special place on the forum of people / sellers to BEWARE of dealing with. I will probably edit it so when we run up against this problem I can make the posts similar.

"My dads auctions" , Steve Johnstone was the sellers name and was from or near Orange CA

mailto:dads.ebay51@yahoo.com

I purchased the 101B engine in a buy it now sale on Ebay the engine appeared complete and with WHAT i thought was a BDC 14 carby ( it was a very early version with no venturi ) the rest of the engine was quite good but it was a 101 not a 101B as it had the shallower side cover over the flywheel ........... Then i got the request for then need for the money to be sent urgently as i had to use Western Union as the seller wouldn't accept Paypal so with as much haste as possible the Money order was sent and the seller wrote it had cleared his bank account so the money was good and now in his account ............ then he buggered off the Reno to buy a truck ............. then no comunication for a couple of weeks so i have friends in Orange CA so a possie was raised in case the need arose now just when the possie had their Harly's fired up he replyed and delivered the engine to my Orange CA.
Wipe sweat from forehead i had it at last after all the dramas of being so far away (7000 + miles ).
So imagine my disappointment when i went to remove the sprocket off the end of the crank !!!

Was the sprocket added to hide the damage or could it have been on there for years and the seller did not know?

Did you ask for a partial refund? If so what happened?

The first question is hard to answer but it looked reasonably fresh in my opinion,
and no i never got the chance as he wouldn't answer
