ONE WHEEL PEEL DEAL !

Post by REAR » Sun Aug 03, 2014 7:17 pm

Don't forget that we will be having a special segment at this years BIG ONE dedicated to the karts that started the karting craze, the Dead Axles.

Been in contact with quite a few individuals and good number of Dead Axles will be in attendece. Ohio should have 5 or 6 karts, the folks on the east coast will be bringing 3 or 4 plus the folks from down south and the mid west will be bringing quite a few also.

This special Dead Axle segment will be in addition to all of the usual fun activities that only REAR can provide so everyone will still get more track time then they want.

THE BIG ONE...be there.

Mike,

Great to hear your onboard. It is going to be interesting to say the least to see what shows up.

Going to also be interesting to see how many Dead Axles bring home a 'BIGGIE' in the kart show.

Hey Rob,
If I get my little Hedstrom kart running, will it be legal to run with the one wheel peel deal? Assuming I can find a rider light enough that the belt will move them. Thought it would be the ultimate original one wheel peeler. HaHa. Should be fun.

Mike,

We respect your opinions and abilities but were going to have to request that you do not run that kart because of the solid tires and their ability to come off of the rims. Its a safety risk we do not want to see turn into a unfortunate incident for you or anyone in your family.

We run under WKA track insurance and we have to follow their current safety rule package as close as possible. I'd love to run my open faced Buco 'soup bowl' helmet but its a no-no so unfortunity I leave it on the table for display.

However please bring that kart with you so everybody gets to see some more great American inventivness from the beginnings of Karting.

Hope you understand...R.E.A.R.

Thanks Guy's,
That is exactly what I had hoped you would say. It is definitely to dangerous to run with real racing karts. The hard tires and slow speed would be scary. Just want to take a short lap maybe just around the oval to actually see someone ride it. Will know later today if it will pull me. Probably need a really light person to ride it, belt drive is pretty weak. The little thing started up yesterday on about the third pull after setting for who knows how many years and ran like a top. See you soon.
Thanks Mike

Rode it up the gravel drive and back to the shop today. Amazing it pulled me up and back with that little belt. HaHa.

Mike,

Thanks for your no-nonsense understanding on our position, your a class gent and we knew you would agree with our decision.

Everyone must remember that we are dedicated to preserving the 'racing' machines of days gone by not the fun karts, yard karts, sidewalk karts etc. Please don't bring any old heap you have laying in your garage and expect to run it, again our focus is on American made racing machines.

Hey Scott,
I am sure you will get it started. Sure glad you picked up the little kart for me. Amazing that it started so easy after sooooo long. I put an in. shorter belt on it and actually drove it away. Too cool. See ya in a few.
