Re: Go Kart Big Bear Scrambler
Bug was building a mini bike at the same time Go Kart began building a mini bike. According to Faye, Bug introduced their mini bike about a week before Go Kart did. The earliest ad I've seen for a Bug mini bike is March 1959. So I think it's safe to say Go Kart produced the Big Bear Scrambler from about 1959 to 1962. Flexo took over after that.

Re: Go Kart Big Bear Scrambler
There were 2 models.
Big Bear Scrambler Model #149
Green Horn Enduro Model #119
Pretty sure the Big Bear had the WB580, not sure what came on the Green Horn, probably Clinton.
The model number was the price at the time.
The reason I have this info was that a couple years back I did a repro job on the labels for each model. Vince Hughes got me all the info and original label samples.

Re: Go Kart Big Bear Scrambler
Yes, the Big Bear had a WB 580. This was my first minibike, the one I raced at Bridgehampton. I thought it was the first mini ever, not knowing 'till now that Bug came a week earlier.
Its steering head was the weak link, with only the single top tube and down tube butt welded to it. The frame would break there under hard riding. I have scars even today, to prove it! Flexo left this design unchanged.
I often wondered how those early Tacos fared, with just the top tube reaching way ahead to the head, and a howling two- stroke providing power!

The earliest GK bikes had the front axle mounted ahead of the fork centerline.
