New member with Rupp kart

Thanks Scott, really look forward to sharing and gaining information on this site. I have a mid 60's power products AH81 from a Hoffco/Comet T-85 chain saw, could this engine be used? It has a splined crank and I have always wondered of you can adapt a kart clutch to it! I could use the stock clutch bell and weld a #35 sprocket to it but dont want to ruin the saw! Would this engine be good to use on a Kart? making a mount would be tough and can you even get rebuild parts for one of these? It has great compression but the crank/con rod bearings feel tired, little to no scoring on the piston/cylinder, so thats good! I will post pics tomarow, thanks for all you help.

Rupp supplied the following engines in 1962.
Power Products AH-61
Power Products Super AH-61
Power Products AH-61 bushing
Lauson HB-25
West Bend 610
West Bend 820
McCulloch Mc-2
McCulloch Mc-7
McCulloch Mc-30
Any of these are 100% correct. If the kart was purchased new without an engine, Model AB 100, then anything available at that time would also be correct. My 1st two choices would be either the Power Products Super AH-61 or the West Bend-820 and the Lauson last, not even.

I'm with Tom Smith on the A-Bone call.

Super K had two hard-welded engine mounts, not a floater. It also had tabs under the rear frame rails behind the seat. The cylindrical gas tank ran side-to-side between the rails, and the tank had tabs on each end that mated with the frame tabs, two bolts each side held it in. Super K also had a 1/2-inch steering shaft with either the traditional Rupp split-spoked steering wheel or a stamped aluminum wheel with DART by RUPP in raised letters cast into the hub.

Even if I knew nothing, I'd trust Tom's call. He knows more about Rupp karts than most anyone I know.

Hi to all. Thanks for all the replys that everyone sent. I am having a blast restoring this Kart. I just ordered a bunch of parts from MFG supply for my Xmas present to myself' lol. I will have to take more pics and measurements to confirm that it is a 62 super k or A-Bone! The original paint still shows on part of the front axle, its a metallic blue colour, dose that help?
