Post by Jerry VanDeusen Jr » Fri Dec 14, 2007 12:57 am

Atwater kart club has a added a vintage class to there racing Schedule for 08 is a 9 race schedule but only 4 of races will have the vintage karts.
dates not yet set. I'll be running, anyone out there that wants to run let me know so we can get an idea on kart count. winner will be who runs the most consistent laps, will be using transponders.

are there any other kart clubs that are running vintage class's? along with the reguler races?

Hi Jerry-
The Georgia Sprint Kart Association (club) based out of Barnesville, Ga has a vintage class. Currently, it is a run what you brung affair, but the club is vintage friendly. Michael Jackson was the solo entrant last year and it looks as if I maybe the solo entrant this year. Also, the Oreville Kart club in PA advertises Sunday races April to October.

Woodbridge Kart Club runs a vintage enduro series as does the Southern Kart Club (4 races a year @ Roebling Road). Ed Sahagian is the contact for SKC if anyone is interested. It would be great to see more interest in the vintage enduros, I got a chance to run in October and it was a BLAST. I ran Ed's Stinger with a 91 and it drug my big butt up plenty fast (I think Kurkowski was clocked about 65mph on the same kart the year before). Mark D'Ellia was there running his Hornet Maurader II with a 91 and Jeff May brought down a couple of really nice Margay's. There were 10 or 12 other guys running various Macs, West Bends and air-cooled motors. It was a very laid back and friendly affair with the emphasis being on fun and safety rather than racing. Ed is trying to grow the class so we can have a venue to run regularly, the bottom line is more interest = more track time.

<Shameless Plug> Hope everyone is planning to come down to Barnesville in March for the Vintage Winternationals. Last year there were approximately 40 karts and this year we hope to get MANY more.

Dan

Jerry-

Are they running the short track for the vintage karts? When we used to do the demonstrations out there a few years back, it was hard to gear for the long track with the banked turns. I know it depends on kart count, but will sidewinders and rear singles be running together? I'm not sure that I can make all four, but I'd be open to hitting at least a couple of them.

Keep us posted on the dates-
Dean

Soon has a find out the dates will let everyone know.
Once they sets the dates we get to pick which 4 we want to use.
far as short or long track. what ever everyone wants to do.
just all depends who shows up. I have running my duals on the long track with no problems, but I am running wet clutchs also.

as of right now everyone runs together but will depend on kart count also. I will be getting more info tomarro.
