Easy Money at TBO

Post by REAR » Tue Sep 17, 2024 5:11 am

Each year at THE BIG ONE we offer free raffles for all the drivers and all of the ladies in attendance both Saturday and Sunday and this is due in part through a host of generous donations we receive from many different individuals and businesses. On Sunday we have traditionally offered a 'BONUS' raffle on top of the regular raffles which has over the years featured everything from tool sets to fresh engines to even complete karts.

This year we were honored to hand out a $500.00 VISA gift card donated by Pruitt Ginsberg in remembrance of the passing of Pruitt's friend and long time TBO attendee TED JOHNSON for the Bonus Raffle.

So here is where the story gets interesting. At TBO we also hold daily 50/50 drawings and on Saturday Don Thompson's son Nate from Antioch Illinois made his return to TBO after a 12 year hiatus and he was holding the winning ticket and he claimed the $200.00 50/50 pot. Nate then turns around in a total class move and he donates the money back to R.E.A.R. to make sure all of this years expenses get paid. Thank you Nate.

If you haven't figured out where this is going we'll tell you. On Sunday after the regular daily raffles we held the BONUS raffle and again Nate was holding the winning ticket and he was the winner of the $500.00 VISA card Pruitt donated.

Guess one good deed deserves a good deed and everyone especially Nate was happy that he took home the bonus.

Nate had a good reason to smile.

Totally agree with you Rob, sounds like Nate definitely had karma on his side. But I wanna challenge the notion of "good deeds being rewarded with good deeds", kind of implies that people should only be kind for the reward. I'm hopeful that Nate did it out of genuine good will, not because he anticipated a $500 reward, right? Let's do good things simply because it's the right thing to do. Anyway, I'm fascinated by the twist of the story.
