Re: 1963 GK1200 original paint colors

There are the later cast aluminum steering wheels out there somewhere. A couple friends of mine bought the repops for their later 400's. The early ones just had a "W" shaped bent steel bar, but that didn't last long. If I had the numbers, I could whip one up on Pro/engineer. The brake would be the t...

Re: 1963 GK1200 original paint colors

Hey, Russ. Hope you are well. Don't forget they were all candy colors. My 1200 was candy blue. My '61 800 was candy red. Also, by '63, Fox owned the Go Kart brand. The Flexo 1600 series came along in '63 with the basic 1200 frame. The '63 Fox Go Kart was a different kart altogether. The '62 was the ...

Re: The Old Geezer DID IT!

I remember how unhappy I was many moons ago when they brought in Castroneves and Kanaan. I thought: Here we go: MORE goddam foreigners in our AMERICAN racing series. Both of those guys completely won me over through the years They are both gentlemen, and full of talent, poise and fun. It was good he...

The Old Geezer DID IT!

Senhor Castroneves struck a blow today for all the Old Farts who still hold a wheel in a racing machine! He did a beautiful job with an upstart team, and there was the Spiderman fence-climb and the Million Dollar Smile. Great job, Helio! :D Ted

Re: I get by with a little help from my friend

Bobby, great stuff! Now if they would only add castor oil to it. We were using the same stuff sixty years ago. The engines would sort of huff and puff and make funny noises. Pop used to tell me to hand him the can of "Startin' Fartin". Ted :)

Re: Seat for Scott Kneisel

Guys, I'm still hoping for someone that's going by here and heading toward Scott Kneisel's place. My health won't allow me to be out and about any more. I'd sure like Scott to have the Cheetah seat. Thanks. Ted Johnson

Re: Airheart Brake Bleeding

Rob, definitely NOT O rings, but also not standard brake cylinder cups. I don't know if Pruit got around to machining his old pistons to accept the available cups. I figured he'd send me a sketch so I could make a CAD model and machining drawing, but so far he hasn't had time. There's no reason w co...

Re: Airheart Brake Bleeding

Hey, Bob, Pruit went through the master cylinder cup thing a few weeks ago. I know he got several that had the right diameter and material, but the wrong shape. I guess he solved it, but it wasn't simple. I think he ended up turning the piston to fit the cups he found. O rings are oh-so much easier!...

Re: Airheart Brake Bleeding

With Tolomatic no longer being interested in the kart systems, they no longer sell the seals for the brakes. You must be able to find which fluid the system originally used so you can keep from mixing them. You might get lucky and find rebuild kits for both master cylinder and caliper so you have kn...
