Rupp d301 gokart w/westbend820. Excellent original condition . I believe it to be a 1968 . Runs perfectly included are 4 new tires .I have owned since 1978 and hardly used since then. I will deliver to greyhound bus terminal for shipping as I understand that is the best and cheapest method of delivery.

Hey David-
I am pretty sure the D-301 was built as a yard kart in mid to late 70's (I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong)
and maybe REAR/other kart organization ineligible for both those reasons. It does appear to have all the usual Rupp goodies (Turbine wheels, bendix brake, seat back tank) but the seat looks awfully yard-kartish to me.
Do not know what, if any difference in materials and build quality between the race karts and yard karts, but I would be suspect until the issue was clarified.
Definitely gets high marks for creativity on mounting the 820.

I had the same thought.... never saw one like that at a kart race back in the 60s

well then, if this is correct i guess that the price is high .
if you bought all the parts at erip at premium prices it would be less i suppose.
if someone could i.d. for sure i'll let the fellow know his Gold mine is a bit leadlike!!
in his email he seemed to be an ok guy so he might lower his reserve if he knew. dave

Hi David-
I found this reference to the D-301 in a '75 or '76 (No.11) Wiseco Catalog:

"A Dart Fun Kart for fun people of all ages. Foot brake and throttle pedals for stop and go.
Many features borrowed directly from the famous Dart racing karts.
Designed for ruggedness, dependability, safety, and FUN!" MSRP of $384

Definitely a yard kart... I don't think it would necessarily be track worthy or allowable for vintage events as most limit participation to old racing karts. That is just my opinion and not the gospel truth.

As an interesting aside, this kart (shown with a 4-cycle motor) was more expensive than an A-Bone ($329)
Here are some of the more popular karts and prices for comparative purposes:

Panther X $574
Concept I $525
Bucket Bug $459
Hartman Blue Steak $740

i've sent ebay message to owner advising him of this info.
hopefully he'll take it well and lower his reserve.
i have a rupp frame in need of a front axle and rear axle
the parts on that would be useful to me if that kart was cheaper. :D
thanx for the input guys.

Actually, it's not that bad of a deal. I built up a similar kart, of less capability for my kids to drive, here is a breakdown of what it cost me:

Kart frame $450.00
Powder coat $100.00
NOS US580 $250.00
Engine mount $39.00
Muffler $49.00
Gas tank $30.00
Clutch $129.00
Chain $10.00
Thottle cable $10.00
Air filter $12.95
Azusa stack $11.00
set of slicks $110.00

Total = $1200.95 and that is for a perfectly done up Bug HumBug, with a nice new US580/West Bend. This is a dead axle kart, and not as vintage looking as that Dart, as HumBugs had a plastic seat.

My Robron A-bone was $2295.00 delivered to California with disc brakes and a third bearing on the rear axle, nassau panel, and seatback tank. I spent another $750.00 on a fresh MC-91A engine, mount, clutch, header, Gem intake cup, starter cup, and chain guard, putting me well over $3000.00 by the time I was done!

The reason I didn't go restore a vintage frame is because I intended to drive both my karts hard, I wanted un-fatigued new metal, and no surprizes. Imagine paying good money for a vintage original, and having a frame weld break after restoring and powder coating, that would be a bummer and require total tear down to make it look nice again. If I was not going to be focused on hard driving, I might have gone the other way.
