Santa Maria Kart Track

Post by Scott Grundfor » Thu Mar 10, 2011 9:08 pm

As some of you may have heard, an FAA ruling resulted in the closing of the Kart track at Santa Maria Airport on Sept. 1 2010. We finally were able to meet with the FAA several weeks ago and they are unwilling to change the ruling. We have enlisted the help of our US Congresswoman Lois Capps. Her staff seems very receptive and is going to ask the FAA at a higher level to explain the decision. Hopefully this will put enough pressure on the LA District FAA Compliance specialist who has dug in his heels to re think his position. I was hoping to get our club, SMKA, to work with vintage karters and schedule an event at the track. It is a great track and half way between LA and SF. The track and club had been in continuous operation for 52 years.

Don't ya just love it? Overpaid political appointees issue their decree............no explanation given, and it takes intervention by an elected official to even get any reply at all. I guess those idiots forgot that they work for US!
