best as i've learned through direct observation and conversation about cheetahs.
the earliest ones shared alot with the new breed.
the front bumper, front steer (means the steering knuckle is in front of the axle not behind spindle arms to te front, brakes if equipted to the backside of spindle, the swing mount has a nub nut on the frame and bolts on.
the earliest ones have a second nub futher back for the optional rear engine set up.
the mk2 was a modified version of the mk1 made for a major seller of margay karts.
as told to me the guy was too tall and needed extra legroom.
he was at the factory and they just sat him in a unfinished kart.
they bent a frame extension to fit him that became the front porch.
as the feet were now where the control arms swept by they moved the arms BEHIND the axle. thus changing the cheetah to rear steer. brakes for mk2 and mk3 are located in FRONt of the spindle spindle arm to the rear.
at first they just flipped the spindles too but as the kart steered backwards they made up new spindles.
people started asking for the "longer kart" and so margay started making them.
i'm also told the rear steer they had to make was easier to drive too.
at the same time they moved to a small triangle welded to the frame for the swing mount.
the next change m3 got the rule complying front bumper and side swept up nerf was added motor side with a small nerf on the left on the right hand mk3's the left handed mk3's came with a nerf only on the motor side.
the margay kit cheetahs were just unassembled versions of the cheetah sold to racers " on a budget"
all cheetahs with centered axles were dual at some point.
very few left handed cheetahs were made.
as this is compiled info some could be wrong and i would love comments.
