Re: what kart is it (tubes are aluminum )
Michael, I don't think that this kart was built as a racer. Even in the "old Days" when I raced, safety was a conncern. The steering hoop is kind of like a spear, the seat back, a knife, and the front, side edges of the floor pan look lethal. All of us who raced, have seen, or been involved in crashes where these these features would have been painful. Also, welding a frame tube to sheet, (the seat back) is not very strong, and bad engineering practice. Usually when you see things manufactured in aluminum that are traditionally steel, You'll see a lot of cool bracing, and added structure. I think the builder of your kart has just interpretting what a kart should be. I'm not trying to be a jerk, just telling what I think. As the old racer saying goes, if it looks right, it is right.

Thank's for the reply, just trying to find out a little info before I upgrade ,don't want to do a lot of work and then someone say you screwed up a part of history or something like that.Would like to name it ,[something old and something new],new wheels ,very fast motor ,disk brakes ,a little hot rod from the past.Heres a pic when I bought it paid ten dollars for it ,will more than likely cost 5,000 to finish Thank's for all the replies and if anybody has any ideas help me out,the last time we messed with a cart was a old margay, it would run faster than the the cars at hickory speedway a couple of miles up the road. Just could not let it die. First aluminum kart I had ever seen.

Check with American Power Sports. You may have to modify them. You will need to know the wheel dimensions (width from outside to outside on bearings) , inside diameter of wheel bearings, and diameter of the king pin bolt you want to use. If you use Azusa Tri-stars all of the dimensions you need to know are shown there.
