Re: Skinny front tires
Question,
Those Vega Cadetti's look really nice and at 69 durometer seem like a good choice for vintage rear karts. Pretty hard and I can see why you need to warm them up, I have heard that same about the Duro vintage speed tires.
So there are the Vintage Speed fronts and the Vega Cadet fronts available that look vintage and are the right size and hardness for vintage and are better quality and safer than Cheng Chins.
My question is: Rob & Bob....Will you consider allowing these at TBO next year?
Whatdayathink!!

Re: Skinny front tires
poking around the Internet, this Carlisle tire seems to be out there and available on several sites (google it)
Carlisle Super Slick 11x3.60 -5 4PR NHS
Has anyone tired it? .... is it really a Carlisle tire (does it say Carlisle on it, or is it some other brand that Carlisle imports, or such?).

Re: Skinny front tires
Here is what one site (the Carlisle tire store) says about it:
"11x3.60-5 is made with a rienforced tread for longer wear."
Sounds like a rock for some industrial application.
Has anyone tried these ?

Re: Skinny front tires
I found a site that sells the carlisle super slick 11x3.60x5 and the 4.10x3.50x5 . These sizes would work for my 63' Grand Prix so I went ahead and tried to order them because they were cheap and thought I would give them a try. They wanted $55 to deliver them so I backed out, that is rediculous for 4 small tires. I couldn't find anywhere else that sells them. I actually couldn't find the super slicks on the Carlisle Tire Store's website. What category are they listed?
I think this is the most complete post on vintage kart tires that I have ever seen. If Rob Voska could only find someone to recap that pile of used vintage tires he has, we wouldn't have to do this....LOL

Re: Skinny front tires
I just googled 'Carlisle Super Slick 11x3.60', and followed the link.
They were down the page a ways if I remember correctly.

Re: Skinny front tires
Its been awile but I use
Specialty Tire Store
http://www.specialtytirestore.com/go_kart_tires.htm
You have to buy 4 min of each size shipping is about 5.00 a tire
These are Cheng Shin or Carlile tires witch are the same company. The newer manufactured tires say Carlile (they must have seen how we here judge a book by its cover)
The front tire to get is an 11X3.50X5 to match super slicks (late 60s to mid 70s) The 11X4.50X5 makes a nice single Rear
Earlier fronts both the 300/340 X 5 nero and wide work well and are out of the original molds it looks like.
If you care about what 1963 kart was raced on these are as close as you get. Ron

Re: Skinny front tires
The tires Ron mentiones look good and work great......and they are REAR legal.
As far as where they are made they are all made off shore. Ching Chin make Maxis tires also.

Re: Skinny front tires
So Rob,
You didn't answer my question...
Are the Vega Cadet and Vintage Speed tires REAR legal??
They are basically identical to the ones mentioned by Ron but not made in China/Tiawan

Japan makes Quality products, china makes crap, mostly due to near slave type labor.Ronald Cubel wrote:
