Hey Mark, my buddy just came across an original and complete 1961 yellow Caretta with a Mac10. It belonged to some guys brother who was killed on a motorcycle and it's been sitting untouched in the rafters in his garage for about 40 years. All he's going to do is wash the dust and dirt off it, replace the seals in the 10, and then run it exactly the way it was built. I thought you might like hearing about this one. Now he has two like new all original Carettas with their original engines, he found both at car shows. Tom

Tom

Cool find, sorry the guy got killed :>(

There are a few more around, I know a guy with 4, 3 sprints and the "great" laydown sprint.

3 have Mc's and one has a left mounted hand k-77 rear. Someday he may sell them.

As hard as I try he just won't take them to any events.

Hope you are doing well and we see you soon

Mark

Mark, I can relate to the guy not wanting to take a nice original kart to a vintage kart event or kart show. I've had kart show mucky mucks tell me Go Karts never came with chrome tie rods and spindles. They were an option, same deal as the pleated team seats were. Tom

Mark,

There was a friend of my by the name of Gene Killham that used to run out of Shep's "Pit Stop" in San Francisco, Gene had the most beautiful Caretta that I have ever seen. His son Lynn won most of the championship IKF races in northern California in the sixties. His Macs were highly modified, with black blocks and everything else highly polished. That kart was a rocket and even looked better! Never knew what happened to it, but it was sure a special kart!
