G.E.P. Sheets of Reed Material
I just hung up the phone with Joe at G.E.P, using the phone number listed on R.E.A.R. The man had no idea what I was talking about! Can anyone elaborate further? He specificaly wanted to know material type. TL

Hi, Tom. I had the same hassle. The material is G.E. Polymer Shapes G-10 sheet with fabric in it. I bought several square feet a couple years ago, but can't find the stuff in the GE Polymer Shapes lineup now. If you do find it, please post it on REAR! Thanks, Ted J.

Tom, Sorry not to have found this earlier, but I did a bit of digging and found my original GE POLYMERSHAPES invoice. The material is listed as: Phenolic Glass (G-10 NON FR) Sheet_NEMA-G-10_0.015 In. Thk. Natural Laminated. The number on the invoice is: STND321869. The piece I got was 24" X 24" X .015 Thick - made a heckofalotta reeds! Good hunting! Ted

I have Reed Material in different thicknesses. Can anyone laser or water cut the material to make stock size Mac91-101 reeds? Hand cutting just doesnt get it. Anyone have a CAD drawing of the stock reeds?

Re: G.E.P. Sheets of Reed Material
Ther's about a million different composits of phenolic. I did alot of homework 7 or 8 years ago, and also ended up with G-10 as a prefered number. Each type(number) has a different epoxy blend and different material for the 'cloth' ply. G-10 seems to be an industry number, and not a brand number. Any larger plastics store carries it in many thicknesses. .015 is also a good choise for our uses. If you strikeout, I sell it in 12x12 pieces.

Hi,
One source of material is the electronics industry: specifically the PCB manufacturing industry.
I have been using FR4 material and cutting out the reeds using a PCB milling machine. You can buy sheets of blank PCB material with copper plated upon it. All you need to do is etch the copper off the material.
Hope this helps....
Cheers,
Allan
