West Bend 820 for CCW rotation

Post by Jacob Jay » Mon Feb 14, 2022 1:20 pm

Hi Guys -

I'm in need of a WB 820 flywheel for a CCW motor. I'm converting a right-hand motor to a left-hand motor for a karter buddy and it is missing the flywheel. I have cash or a lot to trade - I have two new Wiseco thin-ring pistons for 820 (without rings) and I have a new Wiseco .010" over thin-ring piston with rings. Thank you men.

Jacob, if you are running the standard point/condenser ignition, the flywheel rotation does not matter. It only becomes an issue with electronic ignition. In the early days, West Bend did not make a left side flywheel. The crankshafts and the point actuating cam ARE different. Ted

Understood - Thanks Ted, I appreciate it.

So I guess I'm just looking for a regular flywheel.

Jay, remember, if you run a PVL or other electronic ignition, the coil may well have to correspond to the rotation of the flywheel. Also, remember, some guys are gouging folks on West Bend flywheel prices. I saw one go on eBay for over $300.00! Ridiculous! Be careful from whom you buy. Ted

Jacob, he's not always easy to get on phone, but there's not a better guy. When I called, he was heading to the airport to get his wife, but he called back a few hours later. Leave a message. Ted
