What are the thread dimensions - 3/8"- 5/16" ?

The threads are 3/8 -24 (fine) right hand thread.

I've seen them without the cotter pin hole and the stud may be longer. I can fix both of these problems.

Go to some of the antique tractor sites also. Many of the smaller tractors used that style joint because of the dust boot.
