WTB Recoil for West Bend 580

Post by gordy mccaffer » Wed Jun 10, 2020 12:26 pm

I need a recoil for a West Bend 580. I know there are at least two different styles. I need the one with the smaller diameter mounting points. Spacing across is 4-5/8" from hole to hole. Picture is my engine. Thank you.

Pretty sure it's clockwise. That's assuming, when mounted on a kart, that the cylinder would be in the rear with exhaust facing rearwards. Here's a picture of the other side.

I'm starting to get the feeling that a recoil for this engine may be hard to find. :)

Look at chain saws & Tecumseh engines. Lots of them around but a lot of variations also. 2 bolt patterns and at least 2 depths of cups. Some cups are smooth inside & some have saw teeth.

Thanks Rob. I guess my other option, if I put this engine on a kart, is to install a starter pulley and use the starter cart.

If you're still looking for a recoil I may be able to help you. I tried sending you a PM but there was a problem, you can reach me at mjarosik@ptd.net.
