FOUND - Margay Safari Gearbox Clutch or Drum

Post by Kurt Bogerman » Sat Jan 20, 2018 11:58 pm

*Found one. Thanks!

Guys,

I am looking for a MaxTorque/Margay clutch drum or clutch assembly for my Mac90 / Safari Gearbox. I am not looking for a Horstman clutch at this time. Ideally, I am in search of one of the drums that has the spring-dampened hub that protects the input shaft spider from drive-line shock.

If anyone has one to offer, please PM me with your asking price.

Thank you for your consideration.

-Kurt

I realize now that I didn't specify that the clutch is intended to be used on a McCulloch MC 90.

I thought the drum was the same for a WB or Mac. Am I wrong?

Rob,

I would certainly defer to your experience on that. I have literally no experience with WB or other vintage kart engine makes, with the exception of a Homelite Zip saw. The question of which engine I'm hanging on the gearbox came up in another conversation, so I made sure to specify here.

It's frustrating to recall when my mother moved to Florida in 2002. While packing things up, I had found the original clutch in a box of junk in the basement. Never having located any replacement linings at that point, which it desperately needed, I pitched it in the trash. I had since considered installing an oil bath clutch, but upon reflection recently, I would prefer to set it up with a dry clutch, at least initially.

Thanks,

Kurt

Paul,

I found your email in my "junk" folder, no insult intended. Please look for a PM from me.
