Re: Bug sprint
robert,
ask what you want for a price it's a free country.
BUT at $6500 you're gonna be waiting a while for a buyer.
At one of the big car auctions a extremely rare and desirable margay dual kart was put up.
it had the rare dual gearbox , the margay snail pipes and two us820's or mc101's (i don't recall) with all the bells and whistles, was Fully restored and barely broke $6500.
this is maybe the forth kart i've seen listed lately on the forums for fancy prices.
i'm not sure where the prices from some of the sellers are coming from but they are HIGH!!!

Re: Bug sprint
Parts are selling at astronomical prices. Try putting anything together part by part. Complete karts are still a bargain. Now add e-bay fees, PayPal fees and shipping.
I've never sold a kart yet that I could buy back for the price I sold it at, it's always significantly higher.
It's the old rule, start high, you can always come down, but you can't go back up.

Re: Bug sprint
Hmmmm, a brand new perfect repop from K&P is $2,500, real nice 101s on ebay or the boards are $600 to $800... pipe and clutch another $100 to $200.
Frame must be filled with blow or smack to warrant the price
Saw one just about identical but cleaner sold at Adams last year for $1000

Re: Bug sprint
Then the Colico steering wheel another $200 if you can find one, GoPowers $500 a set, if someone will part with them. Twin Carbs and manifold $400, mount and guards another $200. Chilton tank $150. Shipping, insurance, fees.

Re: Bug sprint
Dominic,
Used Bug Sprint chassis are pretty common around here in So Cal and we see them sell for $300 to $600 all the time with either Go Power or Nylites, Chilton tank, Hegar dovetail mounts, number panel and H/A brakes.
My original question was not a wise crack... based on actual recent sales it occured to me that there was a typo and an extra zero slipped in there.
The Bug Sprint was a low budget, high volume chassis sold for several years in the late 60s and early 70s so it is not some rare collectable piece that is hard to find or in high demand. Attempting to rationalize $6,500 for a less than stellar example of one of the more common late 60s low budget kart chassis is just delusional.
In fact, I have yet to see any unrestored single engine late 60s sprint kart of any make or model command a price anywhere close to that amount.
My first post was not intended to stir up trouble or insult the seller.
My question still stands.... is that a typo??? If so and it was intended to say $650 then it's a great deal and I'll take it!
If the actual price is $6,500 I'll defer to you so we don't have a bidding war and drive the price up further

Re: Bug sprint
Thank you all for the input. 6500 is a starting point. like someone said you can always lower the price but you cant raise it. Not wanting to offend anyone but for $650 i can cut it up and sell the parts for more than that. it would be an easy restore its all there.
