original pedals for the 61 rupp kart I purchased

Post by Mike Anderson » Tue Nov 01, 2011 4:16 pm

Hi Guy's
Does anyone have or know of a source for a set of original pedals for the 1961 a-bone I purchased recently? I would like to replace the fox pedals that were installed by the original owner.
Thanks Mike Anderson fleagle14@embarqmail.com (317)729-2418

Here is a pic of the 1st wire pedal design used by Rupp. Some 1961 karts had these. Unfortunately the only 2 that I had are on Chris Marchand's K-Junior that was a biggie at TBO.

Here is the pic if it will help:

Thanks Scott,
I was with Chris today. Hopefully someone will have a set of the pedals. Otherwise I will have to attempt to make a set. Not my desire.
Later Mike

If you can't find any then I'd get some of the easier to find later ones, cut the ears off them, heat and flatten the area where the clevis pin goes, drill a 1/4" thru hole, get rid of the plastic dip and have them flash chrome plated. Nobody will know the difference.

Cubel's photos are an early 62 with the pedals mounted in bushes welded to the front of the axle. I explained the whole scheme in a different post regarding the location of the pedals on a 61 and the fact that only 61s used that type pedal. 62's still used Go Power wheels thru May 62 before they switched to Rupp wheels according to a letter Mick Rupp sent out to all the Dart Kart dealers.
