Hey, David. After three applications of Rubber Renue, the standard Mc7 style boot I have here softened enough to use. That means I need one more of the pre-91B (short-reach plug) covers, and if it's cosmetically decent, I think I can soften it up! I had a short chainsaw boot on one of the engines, and I thought the heck with it, I'll just leave it there. However, Ron and I ruined the crank this morning, so I have to disassemble the beast and replace the crank. Ergo, I don't mind replacing that boot with a better one! No hurry, It'll be a few days before I calm down enough to rebuild the da@# thing! I went to put a 3/8-24 cap screw into the clutch nut for starting, and the @#^$ nut broke off! We had to cut it off with a cutoff wheel, and in the process, nicked the crank right at the base of the threads. Both RC and I didn't like the idea of running a crank with a stress riser right where the threads would break off, so.....
The Rubber Renue works, and you don't need a heck of a lot of it to soften a boot. Here's the contact info:

Anyhow, thanks for looking for the boot when you get the time! Ted

hi Ted,
i think i have five of them.
i don't know for sure because the few mc91's i have aren't here to compare.
but they are the same as my mc15.
anyway NONE are totally perfect.
if you want one that'll look perfect installed i have a couple but they all are missing a dab under the lip area.
can send pix or post them if you like.

Hey, Dave, so long as it looks O.K. and doesn't fall out! Heck, one of these engines isn't even really an Mc7; it's an Mc9 badged to look like a '7! I just want the rig to look decent and drive nice. WTF, Sue Cubel's going to eat my lunch anyhow. She's many pounds lighter, a better driver, has a good handling kart and (2) Mc40's with dual carbs. Thanks for looking thru your goodies! Ted
