Note in my old thread the first 3 pictures trying to I.D. a kart I have and Rick noted it to be a Bantam A-Bomb (OOps, sorry NSA) but I see many dissimilar features from the one ending on ebay today. Most notable the front oval bumper as well as other deviations from my frame. I'm sure Rick is the authority on this and knows way more than one should. I post this only to further learn more about what I have and am not trying muck things up.

That type of brake is a great example of the variation and "creativity" that marked the early period of karting... (photo I took at TBO this Summer)

There's no doubt about the Bantam on Ebay. In 1964 we had three of them. My brother's had the oval front bumper, Rick has one hanging in his Garage. Seeing the one in the link sure broke my heart. It's so sad to see the unique elements cut and ground away. One thing that was unique, and does not show in most photos is the rear wheel hubs. The axle was tapered, and the hubs were aluminum. This looked like a good idea, but the hubs eventually wore on the i.d. and became useless. The rear brake, while it looks strange, worked pretty well. In 1964 it seemed that there were hundreds of Bantams in Northeastern Ohio. They won a bunch of races over the more expensive (and much heavier) Darts, and Fox Karts.

Thanks guys, but I hope to learn more about these Bantams..
I was fortunate to get mine and get it restored.
I replaced very little on the kart, because I wanted it to be as original as possible.
That's why there is some really rusted parts that can be seen under the paint.
Anyway, Jeff took a picture of the brake at TBO and posted it,
That is the original brake band and drum.
The 1/2" steering wheel shaft is original as well.
A unique item of the Bantam, is the steering wheel.
All karts steering wheels have 1 spoke in the center, the Bantam has 2..
One welded on top of the other and the steering wheel hoop is a little larger in diameter .
A friend gave me an original sales brochure so I am able to document the kart and another friend duplicated the upholstery.
It did turn out really well and I hope Mike gets his donbe soon.\
I know of only 5, including the one on Ebay.
Tom Thorn has one, a Joel Mullin (Akron,. Ohio), Mike Reller, myself and the Ebay one.
Great Karts and rare.
