I have a 63 Hoffco Intercepter,I am not sure if all hoffco karts had the same wheel .If someone has a wheel or information about the right wheel let me know.

Marv, pictures of a 63 Hoffco Interceptor I have in a magazine show a dished 3 spoke wheel that has 3 oval holes per spoke with a smooth black vinyl covering (no finger grips) on the rim. The wheels on it look like Fox Le Mans wheels, just a guess on my part but maybe the steering wheel is a Fox item also.

Marv, have you looked at the 12" Covico stainless spoke wheel? try: http://www.rexmar.com/page92.html It has round holes, not oval, but it's a very nice retrofit for a lot of vintage karts. My pal Charlie and I are using them on the reproduction Swoopsters, and Jeff Campbell is also using them. They're less than $60, and all you need to do is elongate the 3 mounting holes to fit most kart hubs. Nice smooth sticky vinyl grip, too. If you do buy one, be sure to buy from Rex Marine, as some of the other marine stores charge twice as much! Ted

there was a Hoffco at Riverside and there are some pictures of it somewhere but I don't remember where I saw them
I wonder how they started that West Bend?

Tom Thorin has one. It's a strange, stamped, 3 spoke design.

maybe it was one of those clutches you could pin and then push start the kart?
i always wondered how they'd get the pin back out once the motor was running!!!

The clutch had some spring loaded deal that when under power and you lifted off the throttle it unloaded it and it retracted.
