Looking for a crankshaft

Post by Mike Lillge » Mon Feb 08, 2010 1:52 pm

I am in need of a good usable crankshaft from a McCulloch 1-71 chainsaw. Please let me if you have one and what you want for it. Thanks, Mike

the one without bearings has had the extra weight on the PTO cheek ground off, I don't know if it was done to fit in a different case or to lighten the crank for balance purposes. I happened to know what cabinet these were in but had never noticed the ground counterweight until I took the pictures. They were stashed with a batch of 1-70/Mc-10 cranks that came from McCulloch with drilled crankpins.

Hi,
The counter weight was ground in order to use this crank in an earlier block like a S44 block.
Ya know how I know?? Because I did the same thing awhile back. I had to use a tool post grinder too, man was that counterweight hard!!!

This is the right crank though to use with the points under flywheel type engine.

Won't work for an Mc10, points lobe is in the wrong configuration. Ya know how I know that??? Guess :(
