1970s Plastic Seatback Tank

Post by Joe Drabicki » Wed Aug 17, 2011 2:57 am

Hey Gents,

Here is a painted black 60s to 70s plastic seatback gas tank with twin fuel valve outlets. It is in as found condition. All I did was wash it with soap and water. I believe the tank would have been used on a dual engine kart like a Margay New Breed, Cheetah, Bug Bucket Stinger or similar dual kart. It could be used on a single engine kart too.

The partly rusty steel and brass valves do work. The plastic is split where one valve goes into the bottom of the tank and it does leak. It can be fixed with some silicone on the valve threads and a clamp around the plastic that the valve is screwed into. There are not any other leaks. I filled the tank and it holds water.

There is a roughly horizontal gash along the bottom back side of the tank, the side that would be toward the seat, so you won't see it when mounted on the seat. The tank cap is rusted with a broken bottom edge, the ventilation hole does work and I can't get it to unscrew. I don't want to force it with pliers. I will leave removing it up to the buyer. The buyer can also remove the paint or repaint it.

I will take $100 shipped to your door. PM me. Thanks.

Kind Regards, Joe

Hey Gents,

Somebody please remind the guy that posted this old beat up gas tank that this is a hobby and that old gas tanks like this are not rare, not super valuable, not impossible to find and nobody will pay him $100 for it.

It does have character though. Give the guy $25 plus $15 shipping and he will mail it to you.

Kind Regards, Joe
