I just got back from the maiden voyage of the Evans Special replica that I built. It was quite rewarding to pull the ropes on the 58 pps and actually driving it after starting out 8 months ago with a spec sheet and a pile of pipe. I'll try to get some pictures posted. Darv.

Hi, Dar,
Very cool. Congratulations, my friend.
Power Products engines have a great sound, not quite like anything else from the era. Two sound really fantastic!
Warmest regards,

Two PPs with pull starters on a Max-Torque Kart at Evans Raceway from the Evans Supply Co. scrapbook, probably taken in 1961. Max-Torque Karts are an updated version of a 1960 Evans Special Kart without the solid motor mounts welded to the frame. Good choice for cool vintage engines.

There were two brothers that basically controlled Utica Raceway/ Dousman, Wisconsin in the 60's..Bob and Dick Sudik. They both drove Evans karts with twin 580 West Bends. Dick succumb to cancer at too early of an age but Bob continued on karting with the Evans for many years. When it was retired it didn't even resemble an Evans (boy I'd like to find that kart today!). Bob went on to win many races and championships with a Fox/PP61's, a King/MC9 and numerous B-limited enduros. I think he still lives in the Milwaukee area.

There is a Robert W. Sodik in Milwaukee, WI and the listing says he's 65+ years old. I've got his phone number. I wonder if he's got some good stories? I'll keep ya posted.
