vintage kart auto-x series #2 corvette Cleveland

Hi Fellow Karters, On 6/26/08 I had a great time racing against the Corvettes. I only raced against time but I was the only kart there. If you would like to see the slide show it is on http://www.autox.corvettecleveland.org. I took the sae single with a 91 mac with 2 carbs . The track was very hard to drive I didn't give the track the credit it deserved. In the cars you can see the track that the cones make because you sit up higher but when your low to the ground like I was , it was a difficult track to run. I wsa fast enough with the single and didn't have to run the duals that I took. It was a lot of fun and they are having three more races Aug. 10th, Sept. 14 and Oct. 12th. So if your around Vermilion, Ohio at that time bring your kart and run it. The race is at the
Ford Plant Parking Lot. Any questions I would be glad to answer. Herb Dickel

Brian, The track was about the size of a sprint kart track. Long straight away was like Fremonts. The width of the track was about 1 width of a road about 10 foot from cone to cone. It wasn't like a race track with grass on both sides or walls. It was just a large parking lot with 100 cones out there. You can see the track if you are standing layed out with cones but when sitting in a kart you just can't see it. I did real well the fastest car ran it in 1.08 they thought it was a mile course and I ran it in 1.09. When I got home I found that the throttle cable came out of 1 of my carborators, so I was only running with 1 carb. It was a lot of fun and looking forward to doing it again in August. There were close to 80 cars and they didn't show any race cars on the slide show. Herb

Herb,
Joel & I would be interested in joining you there. We just ran some exhebition laps at the Eastlake Grand Prix last weekend and had a blast. We were on the track after morning practice, just before they ran their heats, and again between heats and feature races. Just there to keep the spectators entertained during the lulls.
I'll email or call soon to get the details.
