I have had this Kart for a few years now. I bought it from the guy that had built it and I believe he said it was a Rupp Dart Kart originally. He pretty much cut all of the original frame off behind the rear seat and fabricated new frame for the new engine. It has a 440cc engine from a 1973 Artic Cat sled. I realize that this is not anywhere close to an original vintage kart, but I was hoping someone might be able to shed some light as to what the kart was originally?
Thanks in advance,
Matt

Re: Question about my Kart
Matt-
If it's a Rupp, then more than the seat rearward has been changed- the steering "hoop," front bumper, axle and spindles at the very least look to be different from Rupp stuff.
Neat kart though- while it's not really a vintage kart anymore, it's certainly done in the spirit of those early specials that were built in the late 50's/early 60's. I can only imagine that with a 440cc engine it's got a pretty high "pucker factor."

Re: Question about my Kart
It may be a modified Hoffco Kart but it is not a Rupp Mfg. Product.
Dean, if you like actual vintage monster karts like I do, like the twin Toubonique Jet Karts, 3 and 4 Engine Dart Karts etc. how about Dave Bonbrights Ala Kart with the Mk 78A Mercurcy 6 cylinder Outboard engine? He can laugh at the guys who think their dual B-Bomb karts are fast.

Re: Question about my Kart
Tom-
I've got some footage of a couple of the Turbonique karts- one match racing Tommy Ivo and another one at Fremont that grenades itself and gives te driver a real hot ride before he can get it slowed down enough in the shut down area to bail.
6-cyl?! That's nutty...

Re: Question about my Kart
The nice thing about a Turbonique is that if you are lucky it will save you burial/cremation expenses when it blows!
