Calling all Clintons!

Post by Terry Sullivan » Sat Aug 20, 2022 6:03 pm

Anybody running Clintons this year?
I have a 4-port E65 and I would love to run a few laps with any challengers
Chris Marchand is probably not bringing his 5-port E65.
Got something Mr. Kneisel?
Mr. Santee?

Anybody? :D :D :D

Bringing a slightly modified E65 and a Clinton boat motor.
Boat motors aren't known for high RPM, so we'll see if it stays together.
Putnik Dude is coming, so we'll have a few out there.

Don Thompson threw down the challenge months ago. He says I'm old and fat. While he's old & skinny. After the last grudge race we had a few years back I'm ready again! I got one lap in before my leg got a cramp! So I'm all warmed up and ready to go.

A few questions to those who have posted so far.

Is that 4-port E-65 only the intakes? As in two added like on a Westbend 5 port?

What is a 5-port E-65?

What do you do about the exhaust on an outboard engine?

Does the E-65 run well converted to a bushing engine? Like replacing the needles with a floating bushing? Is compression too high to be reliable as a bushing conversion?

Can you fill the lower ring groves on a stock E-65 piston and only run the top one with good results? Would high temp epoxy maybe work or cut a aluminum dummy to replace the lower rings?
