Good morning, Darvin. Mac 10 like CB says, Mac 6, PP-58, PP-82, WB 580, Homelite K92 or 82 are all good choices. The Evans sounds like fun - hope your knees are flexible! Ted

if you Google Evans Spl it should come up H. C. Evans. Scroll down and click on Karts. The 1961 Evans Kompetion Karts cagalog shows an artist rendition of the '61 Evans Special with a pair of PP-82s. There are also photos of the Special and the Flywieght which was the single engine model with a Mc-6. They both have the HH or Evans mechanical disc brake and Go Power wheels.
The ad showing the Mc-10 is for the 59/60 Evans Special which had scrub brakes on about the first 65 produced before they switched to the disc brakes.
Anything from a Clinton to 3 Mc-10s were used on the early Evans Karts which was one of the first if not the first kart to use a live axle in 59.
I had lunch with the guy who built the Evans Karts last fall and he told me that when they went to a kart race at Mansfield, Ohio in '61 I think, that they wandered thru Rupps' shop which was next to the track and happened to see the way Rupp welded up his Power Products cylinders so they had enough material to add 2 extra transfer or back ports (like the dreaded new Copperhead 820s have)
So Evans did the same thing to thier PP-82s when they got back home, took them to Power Products
and proved how well it worked on the dyno to some amazed engineers at Power Products.

Dan-

Did you have any connections to Augie Pabst? That era of racing is way before my time, but I've always loved the Scarabs from the late 50's and I know Augie drove one for the Meister Brausers team after the Reventlow team was done with them. From what I've read he seems like a neat, down to earth guy.

Anyway, saw the name and thought I'd ask...

1961 Evans were a light shade of metallic blue. The seat was a similar color.
