Do you see what I see ?

Looks like a pair of flatbacks under the seat feeding just who knows what.

Looks like an old drag race, with fans standing along the strip. Wonder what track it was at. We used to build them like that, I had one licensed and rode it to school with a full house Mac on it. Lots of fun till they broke. HaHa

I worked pumping gas after school during my sophomore year in high school to make some money to buy a car and I rode my minibike to work on the back streets to avoid the police in the daylight but when I got off work it was dark so if the coast was clear I road right down the main street going home. Don't know what was worse, a quick 30 mph blast in the freezing cold or a long walk home in the snow.

The irony of the story is that I still enjoy riding my minbike more then I enjoy driving my car.

Bobby, no wonder you're crazy! You've scraped the skin off your head once too often! I wish I could've seen you running from the Po=Po to get home! :D Ted

Teddy, you'll like this one.

When I was a young my father moved us out of Cleveland to a more rural area which was fast becoming the 'suburbs' because he worked in new home constuction so he was closer to his work and we were getting away from the ever increasing urban decay and crime.

The housing areas or new developments were usually miles apart from other housing areas so for a kid it was a pretty good walk or bicycle ride over to your friends house unless you had a minibike and heres where the story starts.

A friend from junior highs father every winter would build a ice skating-hockey rink in their back yard with simple 2x10's and a plastic bladder and we would have hockey games at night on most weekends when we were not working. Of course my friends house was about 5 miles away so the guys who had minibikes would ride over and park them in their garage till the games were over. Keep in mind that its winter time so its cold and there is snow piled up on the side of the road.

One night on the way home one of my buddies was spotted on his minibike riding home by the police and a chase started. Now 3HP is no match for a squad car but my buddy figured he was already in trouble so he might as well make a run for it. To make a long story short my buddy said the last thing he remembered was the squad car up on the side of him giving him a pit maneuver right into a snow bank. My buddy recieved for his heroics a broken leg, 2 tickets, plus he had to pay to get his bike back and was grounded for a month. All in all he learned a lesson.

If this were to happen today my buddy would probably be a millionaire from all the lawsuits he could have filed and who knows they might of even make a staue of him riding his minibike to commemorate his stupidity.

Good memories but oh the times they are a changing.

Bob, that's hilarious! Back when I was a kid, we lived in what, many years later, would become West Melbourne, Florida. We were four miles West of Melbourne, and it was definitely rural. My friend, Charles, lived about 400 feet West of our place. US 192 ran in front of Pop's lawn mower and kart shop. I would get on my Bug/A400 and ride down the Kissimmee Highway to Charles' house, then back home. One day, I heard a siren behind me. It was the Sherriff! In those days, the Brevard County Sherriff was Jim Drawdy, who served on PT109 with Kennedy. Thank goodness he and my Pop were good friends, but he did escort me home and took me into the shop where we had a "talk" with Pop about me riding a kart on a US highway. Of course, back then, US 192 was a potholed two lane highway. Nowadays you can't even walk across 192 without getting run over with the traffic heading out to I-95 and West to Disney. Needless to say, I stopped riding the kart to Charles' house and walked through the field instead. Times have changed. it's a wonder we survived, but I bet we had a LOT more fun than the kids today with their video games and pale skin from staying indoors 24-7! Ted

Great stories Guys.

Reminds me of having to push my Manco fun kart home in a Ohio snow storm when I was 14yo. The local sheriff was not impressed with me and a buddy driving our karts on the road at night in a snow storm. We would gain as much speed as possible then cut the wheels hard left and jam on the brake. The guy who could do the most 360's with out sliding off the road got bragging rights.
It was great fun until we saw the flashing lights behind us. My parents were even less impressed and suggested the sheriff let me spend the night in jail. :D
