I am looking for information on this kart. there is a couple of peices missing that I can probably make if I had pictures of them to go by. I have attached a couple pictures I have more if someone needs to see them to help me Identify it. If anyone has any info please let me know. thanx for any info.

Re: vintage quarter midget help.
Hey Chris-
Neat find- but you'll find that quarter midgets and karts are two different animals and always operated in two different worlds. I think a big reason is that quarter midgets were always only for kids- ya just can't squeeze in there if you're adult-sized. While racing karts always had a large adult contingent. So I'm sure there is probably a vintage quarter midget scene out there, but unless there is a vintage karter that just happens to have raced quarter midgets when he/she was a kid, you're probably not going to find many answers from folks in the vintage kart world only because it's outside the scope of vintage karting.
Best of luck-
Dean

Re: vintage quarter midget help.
Chris,
I raced quarter midgets as a kid from 1958 to 62, my Father was a dealer for RaceCraft quarter midgets, Continental engines, and Solt speed equipment. I can't tell you what brand of midget you have, but can say its from the late 60's to late 70's, because of the roll cage, and the brand of wheels. I can tell you for sure your car originaly use a Continental AU7-R engine, Good Luck with your project....Ed

Ed, do you ever remember seeing this little Kurtis Kraft sidewinder around Santa Rosa? I'm not sure it says Santa Rosa but it looks like Santa something? Cal on the hood. Tom

Chris, try this site: vintage quartermidget.com . Go to Body Styles. I don't think it's a Kurtis but may be a Rice or other Kurtis knock-off of the era.

Hi Tom,
For some reason i can't get your pictures to open, but yes i do remember one Kurtis Kraft midget, here in Santa Rosa. The car that i remember said Santa Rosa Plating on the sides of the body, and everything that unbolted from the chassis, was chrome. If you have this car, i can find out who originally owned it for you.....Ed

Re: vintage quarter midget help.
Ed, thanks, yes this is the Santa Rosa Plating Kurtis you described. I've seen quite a few Kurtis and Moss midgets and karts stashed away like this midget. These are the two makes that I actually know how to identify! Moss midgets have a Mcculloch Super 44A chainsaw flywheel cover on the body engine air inlet port. Most of them are in the same sad shape as this Kurtis. However I think this Moss is a really nice one. Tom
