Mcculloch engine debate!!!!

Post by Matthew denton » Thu Nov 07, 2019 4:21 pm

So I’m selling my kart with my engine, I have been told it’s a mc101 numerous times. But now I’m told it’s a 91 series. I seem the mcculloch IPL sheet and they both look similar. Is there any definite answer to this? Here’s some pics.

It's no longer a debate, who ever told you it was 101 is either ignorant, or the seller of the engine (or both).
It is a MC91A 100cc but will need a picture of the boost port cover above the flywheel to say for certain. Also the block number indicates this being of the 91 series engine builds. I'm not home now to look up the block number, so someone else can get that confirmed.

A BDC14 carb wasnt used on the 1st MC91 as I recall, but it could have been changed out later.

All of my 91A motors have that number stamped on the block.

Here are a pair of 101's, totally different in appearance as well as internals.

4 fins above the exhaust port on 100cc engines and 5 fins on 125cc engines. Easy to see in your one picture.

Exactly that's a 91a first off they never made a 101 with a yellow engine cover plus like the dude with all the 91s & the 101s the physical appearance is different 😉
