From my research it’s a margay kart. Maybe a pro x, or panther. What do u think? Came with a fresh rebuilt McCulloch 101 I believe. Maybe a 92-93

Hi Matt
Yes it's a Margy Pro X with some additions. The rear axle was 1" when new but sometime was updated to the 1 1/4" axle and adjustable hubs. Careful as those wheels and ears of the hubs were known to crack. Engine does look like a 11cc McCulloch.

Hi rob.

Thanks for the quick reply, Would this be a good kart to restore or keep original?

It's a cool kart from the late 70"s. It was the first good kart I had. I call it a tweener kart. Different style than what we run. We run only rear engine karts from the 60's and your kart is kinda old for the other association that is into racing 1990's karts.

That is a Margay Expert, not a Pro-X. The Expert went to 1 1/4" axle, unlike the Pro-X and Panther X before. This kart was in production from 1979 thru 1981. Margay did build some after the Bandito and Expert II came out. It is an earlier model with short frame rails in rear. Rear frame rails are also straight back. Previous models were not. Someone changed out the nerf bars to meet current rules.

One other thing, the gas tank is in backwards.
