What is the safest way to remove the yellow paint from the inside and outside shrouds of a Mac without damaging the metal under it. Thanks...

I band sawed an old block up and made a cover for the gasket surface to keep the glass beads from tearing it up.

Could try aircraft paint remover. I've used it on all epoxies, urathanes, etc; and it will work. Might take a few applications but no risk of damage to the part. Can't say it won't damage an eyeball, your fingers or your lungs.

Hey, Rick, Eastwood has some really agressive remover that even takes off powdercoat. I got it on my hands and got only minor burning sensation with no actual burn. I really like the stuff. Actually, I like soda blasting best, but you can't find a soda blaster in all parts of the country. Ted

The good ole strong carb cleaner that comes in a 5 gallon can with basket. Once you submerge it, it takes about 20 minutes and its all off. The good stuff is expensive. They make cheaper cost brands but they are no good for stripping.

Now finding a good spray on yellow paint that is durable is another problem. The 3 yellow paints listed on JohnT's site flakes, chips off easily(especially the Ceramic engine paint) and then after a year it starts to spiderweb crack. It does this even if you use primer. Powder coat would be better.
