It's hard to beat Caretta's, but I'm a Cate's man now!

I don't think there is one most sought after kart. At the vintage events Rupp Dart Karts, Fox karts, Margay karts and Lancer karts seem to have the largest numbers. I've only seen 2 or 3 Carettas run. Some other fairly popular karts are Simplex, Bug, Hornet, and Mcculloch.

Your question;
What is the most sought after vintage kart that everybody wants?
I can't answer that question, but I feel a lot of people possible want what they dreamed of having back in the day that they noticed or become interested in karting. The number one kart I wanted was a Mak Kart with twin Mac 10's. Next was a Rathman Exterminator and then a twin engine Simplex. I am blessed to own all of these karts. Back in the early days of Karting I owned a nice A Bug and a nice A Super Cates. Both were well handling and fast karts. Good question.

Hi,
Certainly couldn't say it's "desirable," but I run a late 1960 live axle Homelite Spitfire with dual Homelite KL-100 engines. My "Spitwad" weighs close to 175 pounds and can barely get ahead of my daughter's Super K (single AH-58), but it's the best handling kart I've ever driven -- and the best part is that in all the meets I've attended and all the online posts I've read, I've never seen another one of these karts on the track.
I also have an earlier 1960 stub axle Homelite Spitfire (dual AH-58's), a 1960 Go Kart 800 (MC-6), 1968 Dart A-Bone (MC-101) and a 1962 Blitz F-1000 (MC-7), but none of these is a rare as my live axle Spitfire.
Warmest regards,

One that no one else has.........
That is why I drive a Hot Rod Toyota Cressida.
You couldn't give me a Mustang or Vette.
Along those lines, I still have a mystery kart,
and I just received my Maico kart engine in.
(god, what a beast !)
And I just scored a Sachs 100cc kart engine,
and have a line on an old JLO 101.
Nothing against Macs or Benders, I have several of each.
But I like the rare stuff too........
I hate blending in.........
Now, if I can just find a Villers, and a Koenig

Ala Kart Slingshot. In 1961 my friend and I were at our local track, and a fellow brought his brand new Slingshot to test it out. It had twin Mc-10's...It was awesome!
