I never saw the "Fan-tastic" Chaparral, but I saw the 2C at Sebring in '65, and the 2D Coupe at Daytona in '66. Amazing engineering, and they sounded great. Ted

The 2J fan car used a JLO 760cc twin carb, fan cooled snowmobile (Arctic Cat Panther) engine, which was plagued with reliability problems. Never saw it run but did get to see the Pennzoil Chaparral run in 79, 80 and 81. It was also another great Jim Hall innovation.

The "sucker" car was at Mid Ohio in the 60 s and it picked up and spit out so much debri/rocks/grass and whatever, I think they wouldn t let it run or banned it .

So it was a really great track sweeper! The other cars should have liked having such a clean track.

Yea really . Unfortunately it was putting all that crap back on the track and in the faces of the drivers following it !
