Well boys and girls we put a fresh tune-up on the old time machine which took us all the way back to Kartings beginnings and what better way to celebrate Kartings first days then to pay a tribute to the engine brand used on the kart that started it all.

With Art Ingels original Kart in mind we are pleased to announce that the 2016 running of THE BIG ONE will pay homage to that mighty mill out of Wisconsin, The WEST BEND.

Come on out and help us celebrate the first power plant used on the original go-kart along with its later brothers and sisters that then went on to numerous championship wins thru the golden years of karting.

We hope to see all of the original designed West Bend engine models return to their former glory from the fuel spraying Power Bee's all the way up to those flame belching 820's, so head on out to the shop and start getting ready for a return to the power and excitement of the West Bend engines that helped to form the very beginnings of the hobby we know as Karting.

Karting...Made in America.

Remember the display table at the banquet. If they are not already on your kart I would love to see some of the early hot rod parts. early blocks with external tube 5 port conversion, cool manifolds, billet rods etc......

Rob &Bob,

Now that I'm healthy again I'm good to show up and drive. I plan to bring my West Bend stuff. I will bring two sets of duals; one is a 1961 Fox with modified period correct 820's and the other is a 1960 lead sled with dual stock 820's. I will also have at least 10 more assembled engines on show in my trailer. Both duals and two karts with stroked single 820's are runners. I also have two of the later Bonbright 820's to show what the differences are.

If things work out I will put some type of a display together showing modifications, porting, etc.

I will also have a few tubs of 820 parts for sale and other stuff.

Guys,

Great to hear your onboard. We should have a nice gathering of West Bends covering all models.

Personal favorite kart is anything with a 580 on it, their simple, easy to start and work on, and just plain fun to drive. Karting was meant to be a fun recreational activity and Mr Ingels made a very good choice of power when he created the first kart.
