Trying to get my kart ready for the Vintage winternationals next month at Barnesville, GA.
Does anyone know what the correct gear ratio is for this track?
From the track satellite photo, looks like the front straight is around 400 feet long.
Thanks.

terry, last year we ran around 6.8-1 on single macs, 6.6-1 on 820. see you there mike

Terry,
If they are running 10-66 and 10-64.........split it and go 10 -65 and carry a spare 66 and 67........remember you have an extra 2000 rpm to play with...all on the top if you need it.
Remember, no triple cheeseburger class here...
Now, go to bed !!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Tom-Remember, no triple cheeseburger class here...
Hey, I resemble errr resent that remark! I think the modern class equivalent is the Sumo or Shamu class.
I am definitely on the heavier side, and I ran a 10-72 with my Mc91 at Barnesville in August (the hottest-wettest day of karting ever) and it worked out great. Plenty of grunt for the S-turns and was still pulling on the straight, It is the same track set up I used for Davis. All ya'll smaller guys have a bit more gearing options for top-end speed. Its gonna be a lot of fun, I hope many of you are planning to attend.

Re: Gear Ratio For Barnesville, GA.
Single Mac with 350 lbs total weight can carry a 6.50 gear ratio. Twins can run a 6.40 gear. For the more robust racer like Dan a 7.00 -7.20 is better. Track length is ----------
Front straight length = 348 feet
Back straight length = 491 feet
Total track length = 1385 feet or 0.26 miles.
Hope this helps out.
