Hello, I am new on here and just bought a survivor as raced in 60's moss kart. Like to gather other owners in a link to talk about the karts, maybe hhelp source parts and such too. Hope to hear from you guys soon. Mike in CT

Mike,

Welcome aboard.

You have great example of the early iron from kartings infancy and like Chris said more pictures please because everyone around here enjoys viewing cool machinery.

You may want to think about attending THE BIG ONE on Labor Day weekend because you never know who or what might show up and this might be just the place to help hook you up with fellow Moss owners however surviving Moss karts are far and few between.

Carl Buchanan got mine. Carl passed away a few years ago. I think it ended up in Vince Hughes collection.

I'll try to post more pics. Was chasing one in Florida for 30 years and recently the family said they no longer had it. They didn't say what became of it but it was same condition as this one. I have only seen these two in person , and maybe 3 other complete and two frames online. Like to meet some of the other owners and see how they are setting theirs up. I am looking at putting two west bend 610's on mine as I have one and my buddy has the second. Might look for a set of 580's or 700's ... depends on what turns up. Hope to make some events when she's ready.

Sounds like a great time. Like to make it but is also the big vintage sports car meet at Limerock here in CT on same weekend.. If I'm not running my 59 healey sprite, and don't go might try to make the Big One !! I won't have the moss ready though. While cleaning things up I decided to fit one of my 610's and found they won't work without cutting the chassis cross members out that are factory 580/700 mounts. So I am looking for a pair of opposite 580's or 700's. If anyone has a set for sale or trade let me know.......

Moss offered a dual McCulloch mount option and also mounted a Mac on the right hand side like a 580 with its own mount plate. You should contact me again (email) and I will MAKE MYSELF find the info you wanted so you have the pictures. The swing mount that your kart has was added after by owner. the mount choose was 580/700 west bends as singles or duals and macs as single or duals (two different mounts).

PS they also offered kart without mounts so you could adapt a special engine to it,

Thanks for any info... Want to keep the chassis stock and not alter it, And I'm kinda a west bend guy so want to put a pair of those on. Also as a kid I used to get the Complete Karting book at the library literally every couple weeks. It was to where in the late 70's I was the only one taking the book out over a couple years so they gave it to me !! The moss always caught my attention. So 35 years later and 25 of that waiting for one to come up for sale. Finally working on one. Thanks again !!!
