Roger Mulkey and his father, Altus AFB, Oklahoma 1959. They bought kits from Rupp and Roger assembled them. Guys in the Air Force bought them from them and they raced karts on courses they laid out at the base.

1959 Dart Kart, ready to be restored.

Everything on this is the same as the old picture with exception of the front axle supports and the odd front bumper that we don't think came from the factory unless someone knows differently.

I don't know if this was a kit from Rupp or if it came assembled. The original color is red but it has been repainted or touched up.

>>>>>>>Note to all possible participants in the "DEAD AXLE REVIVAL" segment of THE BIG ONE,>>>>>>>>

We will NOT allow any type of live axles and or live axle conversions in any shape or form to participate in this segment of THE BIG ONE.

We realize that this may effect a few [sorry Terry] but we would like to have this segment be as accurate a representation of the first karts that were run as possible that featured a independently powered wheel or wheels.

You may however bring any conversion type of kart to run because the DEAD AXLE REVIVAL segment will be run completely separate from the normal on track activities and you will have plenty of opportunities to run your kart throughout the weekend.

Hope this helps and sorry if we inconvienced anyone.

Thanks also to Tom Smith and Scott Kneisel for the great photos of the type of machines that we can expect to be in attendence.
