Hello,

I've had this kart for 30 years and have no idea what it is and have never been able to find another like it. It originally had a center mount mcculloch engine direct drive, no clutch. It also originally had the half moon chrome tank mounted to the back seat. Its from the 50's or very early 60's i believe. the frame is all original and never modified. I would love to know what it is.

Not sure, but looking at the porch and frame it looks like it's an Apache from around '61.
They were built in Bakersfield, Ca from about 59 to 61 or 62
Nice kart, heavy but handles good- I have a '60

Hey, Dan. When Darin posted this kart on the Vintage karts forum, I thought at first it was an Apache. Don't the Apache main rails splay outward towards the rear wheels aft of the seat, or is this only on some models? What about the "holey" gusset acrocc the front axle? Thanks. Ted

Rob, I will try to get more pictures soon. the kart is pretty buried in the back of my storage.

Mike, I have not decided what to do with it yet. I may either restore it or end up selling as it is. I don't really want to sell it but I don't think I will ever do anything with it either. My son is pretty heavy into motocross so he really has no interest, so maybe would be better to pass it off to someone who will enjoy it. But, I'm hell bent on finding out what it is first! I was told by a guy about 20 years ago that it was very rare, only a few made and might be worth something, but if he told me what it was (I don't think he did and I don't think I even asked), I don't remember now.

Dan and Ted, I agree that the Apache looks the most similar as far as the rear frame and the seat luvers, but like Ted said, I've only seen the Apache with the wider rear.
