help Identify my kart

Post by Fred Tamayo » Sun Jan 13, 2008 2:47 pm

HI, new to your site, I have an old kart in the rafters of my shop. It has been there for decades, it had ( at one time) two mccullough motors on it. Now it has one, it was put up running, but has sat for so long, the motor is now stuck. I want to get the kart identified. The frame is two pieces, it bolts together by seat, it is slightly adjustable. It was direct drive, no clutch. Chrome drum brake. If you email me , I can send a picture.. thanks, Fred taintx@yahoo.com

Looks like a 68 or later Dart Grand Prix or a variant, no nassau panel with ID tag tho and the seat isn't regular Dart of early years. TL

That kart is a single engine Rupp Chaparral. It is missing the original fiberglass number panel.
Original dual engine Chaparral karts have a center bearing mount on the rear axle between the motor mounts.
That one still has the correct style tires they came with.

68 Dart Chaparral. Missing the fiberglass Nassau panel. Has drum brake just like mine had. I've had mine for 40 years since it was new.

Hi Guys, thanks for the help, it was a 1968 Rupp Chapparal. Do I need to delete this posting? If so, how? Thanks, Fred

No problem Fred. It will slowly sink down the order.
Thanks
