No not at all, the bottom will not seal to the block. you might be able to machine it flat and use the mc10 gasket. ron

ok well i have a mac 10 intake but i dont have the reed plate that goes between that and the block... i was just wondering what my options were on either stock or aftermarket intakes or other model mac intakes that would fit?

lots of old intakes will work.
gem - reed - gopower - van tech
or just replace the reed plate that belongs.
they are fairly common and come on ebay for sale fairly regular.

van tech supplied the reed BLOCK and reeds.
the idea was to give you more reed intake area.
you would remove the standard reed plate and use your stock manifold as the top of a van tech set up.

Dave, the Van Tech used a cast aluminum top carb adapter plate that was MUCH smaller than the stock McCulloch adaptor. As far as I know, you had to use all the Van Tech manifold, reed cage and top plate. The Homelite reed petals will fit, but it is far safer to use phenolic reed petals on the Van Tech reed block. The early Van Techs had a very small third port opening in the reed cage; the later units had a much larger third port opening. Here's a pic of the later version on Charlie's Mc6 that I rebuilt for him. TJ

Thanks, Travis. Charlie's engine came out well. I got really lucky and bought two additional Van Tech manifolds for the twin Mc7's I installed on the Van Tech kart that the same friend, Charlie, bought from me. I used the V.T. manifolds many times in the early sixties. Unfortunately, it is tough to buy just the reed cage or the top adaptor plate. They do show up on the forums or on eBay occasionally, but it's usually the whole manifold unit. There are several guys who make the phenolic reed petals for the Homelite/Van Tech reed cages. It's a simple water jet cutting operation. The gaskets are a lot harder to find. I could make a DXF file on Pro/E to have them water jet cut as well, but I'd need a base, a cage, a top adaptor or a really good original gasket to measure. Ted

ted,
i'm really brain dead lately.
gopower used the mcculloch stuff i think duh.
i may actually have a random vantech top and reed block.
p[roblem is there are two styles.
one has a bigger feed area for the open part of the manifold.
post pix i'll see which you have.
won't be for a while am leavinbg town in a few hours and noooooo go kart stuff till i get back around the 6th
