Re: Tillotson HL application list
Bill,
If you are looking at the older carbs from the 60s and 70s the HL 227 was very popular... I used them on my Komets for the stock appearing class. If you are buying a new carb I recommend the HL 334A or A/B as commonly used on the Leopard TAG motors.... the best carb I have ever run on a kart motor.
Both will require an adapter plate if you plan to use them on a 92 with the original reed cage and intake manifold. There is an adapter for sale on ebay right now or you can make one if you are comfortable doing a little fabrication.
Both carbs i mentioned are gas carbs. You can get an alky version of the 334 from these guys...

Resist the temptation to use the bigger carbs, they don't work as well as the small bore versions.

Re: Tillotson HL application list
Bill,
Dick and I worked on an article earlier this year that we never published. It contains a list of HL carbs and the name of the company that used them, but it does not say on what engine it was used. If this will help, let me know the HL number and I will let you know the "user" of that carb. (Maybe we will be able to publish the entire list in an upcoming publication.)

rolf, an idea, i realize that any used carb we buy today could be modified for alky, but if you list the original use, IE gas or alky may help in a purchase.

I have an application list on an Excel spreadsheet of the West Bend 610, 820 engines and the HL carbs that were used on them here:

Re: Tillotson HL application list
Something I found ... The carbs with the end customer 'Crescent Raceway' appear to be alky carbs. There are 4 listed HL194A, HL194B, HL194C and HL264A. I found this quote from another forum.
'Crescent carbs, you may recall, came "alcohol ready" from the Tillotson factory in Toledo.'
Just my 2 cents.

Was the HL-264A the double pumper?
