mc 45 pto seal

Post by Bill Hermsted » Sat Nov 24, 2012 11:58 am

Help, MAC gurus- is seal # CB-078-137-8 correct for the mc 45? Also on it is 010000. The seal seemed tighter than usual around the shaft, even though well lubed and the step on the shaft smoothed. I hope your Thanksgiving was a good one!
Thanks, Bill

Bill,

The very old correct seals that I have for the 20,30,40,45 etc have the following numbers on them...
C-USI-078-137-8
Pretty close to the number you have so it would seem that yours are the right part.
That being said, I don't know what the number sequences mean so it may be that the CB on yours means it is a different size than the C-USI on the parts I have here.

thanks, Steve. I thought we were on the right track because the seal was a good press in the big 45 counterbore. The matching numbers made me feel better, as the letter prefix looks more and more like the company's ident.- (i.e. CR- Chicago Rawhide).
